Spectral Tool Enchants possibility

Post by TheLegendJet » Thu May 28, 2015 1:19 am

As all of you know, the Spectral Tools are too OP with Efficiency, but could there atleast be a Unbreaking or Silk Touch / Fortune Enchant for it?
I like to use the Tools, but it's useless without any Enchants, because it's not possible to Repair without using up expensive materials.
I've realised that nobody even uses / buys Spectral Tools anymore and I think adding something like those enchants would be atleast an Option to Revive them.

Pig, Myself, and Nide have talked about concepts recently to bring important enchantments to spectral tools. the only issue is to do it correctly.

Hmm would like to have it, got a spectral pick in enderchest but since it's freaking slow and except for the making of 3x3 tunnels pretty useless to me, or rather it's just a piece of expensive junk right now sitting in my enderchest..

Thanks for your completely constructive feedback. The spectral tools are meant to be good items, that nothing else on the server can achieve, such as digging 3x3x1 areas, chopping down trees(which can be done with tree feller, I know this) and new features coming with new spectral stuff. They are meant to be powerful, unique tools that can let the player do something that before would have taken time.
Notice one word that I specifically tried not to use in any form, God(Or OP, almighty, superfantastic etc.). We need to have a balance. Old players can literally just spend 10 minutes and have a few spectral pickaxes. If we had some pickaxe that dug a 3x3x1 area that had efficiency 10 speed, that would have to be the most expensive possible item in the game accept from a few others. They're meant to be good, but not God weapons. I'm sorry, but that is not the item I would want, nor ever think about creating. Im sorry its not the most op fantastic weapon that you can use, then get bored of the server in 10 minutes. Im sorry you cant just pickup a piece of dirt and create a chunk full of diamonds, but its not happening.
We will be allowing upgrades of some forms to spectral weapons, also with possible new effects.
If you want things that make your game op within 20 minutes of playing, try out some modpacks that are poorly put together with no balance whatsoever, then look back at us, where after hundreds, sometimes thousands of hours of playing, people are still coming back. Now this may not be completely feature based, I know some players like the server for being the server, and the community, but the features and difficulty can sometimes assist.

How about limiting Efficiency to 3, and just for pickaxes? (+ Silk Touch). That is nowhere near OP but it would make it actually a lot more useful for mining tunnels or areas.
Helper 5/1/15 to 12/25/15.
Please donate rails, stonebricks, and gold ores to the hopper at /warp TheSC. We need many of those in order to build the railroad network in Greycliff.

So are we talking about the rings that additionally worn to a spectral tool give them according to their gem either the enchants durab, eff or fortune? I was aware that those rings should come with a usage of 30 like the icerings and pendants. Like you told me a onyx ring gives for an amount of time durab, ruby like speed and sapphire like fortune.

Or are we talking about the fueling of the spectral items with some sort of gems out of the inventory of the player and the spectral thingy can use the ability related to the different fuels as long as the fuel is provided in the inventory? That would be somethign that i would really like to see it would make it possible but expensive like hell if you for example need to supply sapphire or ruby or diamond to fuel the different enchants for your tool.

Personally, I prefer the fueling idea, but I dont think it would be a good idea to take the gems directly out of its inventory. I would say a separate GUI for every spectral tool, but I think that is going over the top. Maybe some sort of bag item that holds this "fuel" for any spectral item that you are currently using. Could be equipped in a custom slot to work?
