Hey guys. I have a new suggestion for the server, so here it is:
For a while, players have been wanting a new dimension, but making a new one from scratch is hard. That is where erebus comes in. This is a new dimension that is an underground cavern. It contains nothing but bugs and tropical related items.
ENTERING: To enter the dimension, a portal, shaped just like an aether portal, must be made out of mossy cobblestone bricks. In the mod, you need a special lighter. I figured this could be changed to a flint and steel.
SPAWNING: When a portal spawns, it will spawn underground. You must mine up to reach the main cavern.
FIRST LOOK: When you first enter the dimension, you will notice it is dimly lit. As you look around, you will notice a new plant, bamboo. This bamboo can me turned into crates, and eight crates will make a supercrate. The player locking system may have to be edited to include these crates. On the roof of the cavern, you may see a red glowstone like block. These will drop red gems, which can be crafted into amberstone (red glowstone)
MOBS: Every mob in this dimension resembles a bug. Certain bugs, such as grasshoppers and larvae, drop cookable meat. Almost all mobs drop exoskeleton. This can be turned into armor, or can be made into plates. These plates can create reinforced exoskeleton. Grasshoppers also have the possibility of being grounded like cows. They are passive and drop meat.
BOSSES: At the moment, only one "boss" exists. These dungeons are simple pits in the ground that are covered with fake sand (not collectable, but could be put in the voteshop.) In the dungeon is a bug you have to kill. There is also a chest containing some minor loot.
ORES: This mod only adds one new ore. This ore is called jade. Jade can be crafted into armor just like other gemstones, and is exactly equal to diamond(gloves would need to be customly added.) This mod also adds overworld ores encased in umberstone(functions as cobblestone.) These ores are the same as normal ores.
ALTARS: This mod has a cool system called altars. Altars act as a sort of beacon. You need pistons to make an altar. Then, you need an expensive wand. It is crafted with diamonds and nether stars. Then, you add a certain mob drop to the altar by literally dropping it onto the altar. Right click the altar with the wand and boom, you have an altar with an effect.
OVERALL: I have only covered a small amount of this mod. To see a review of it, use this link: https://m.youtube.com/?reload=7&rdm=1i0 ... JLhJUC7evs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Erebus: The bugs
Mossy Cobblestone portals were used for Swamplands so maybe a different material?
Helper 5/1/15 to 12/25/15.
Please donate rails, stonebricks, and gold ores to the hopper at /warp TheSC. We need many of those in order to build the railroad network in Greycliff.

Re: Erebus: The bugs
Portals are fully dissabled right now, if we added a new world it would probably just be an admin portal at spawn.Joyman533 wrote:Mossy Cobblestone portals were used for Swamplands so maybe a different material?

Re: Erebus: The bugs
If tho i suggest not adding the Erebus dimension but rather put the Erebus bugs and biomes into the Nether plus Natura and Biomes o Plenty addons for the Nether. Makes the Nether way harder and beautiful at once. The Erebus dimension itself is not really needed rather back the Nether up with the content of it. The only problem I see is to get permission to do it and to get the source code from the coder of the Erebus. I asked for permission for craftland about a year ago it was a no. I dont know if the mod is now open source or the coder changed his mind in case of reworking his code. Your best chance to get things like that added is to get the sourcecode and then ask a coder or even two to look into it. What I normally do in such a case is looking really good into it and then ask for example nick or nide or peguin or marc what they think. If they really consider it and start working on it I show my appreciation in sort of a donation to the server.
Your best chance could be to start a fundraiser and ask for this with a broader lobby in your back and with some really good arguments like for example two month of serverrent as donation, cause of the coding will take serious amount of time. It´s true nothing is impossible but it´s a point about effort and time to get such really need ideas to work. I would accompany the fundraiser with 20 Euros. The serverrent is 200 per month so yeah find 20 more like me and then make a request for it i guess.
I think a nether with the addition of the erebus, natura and biomes o plenty biomes including the mobs would be great. I do not really need the items tho. Keep although in mind the Erebus blocks would all have to be reworked and additional ores would have to be added to the Nether (Ruby, Onyx, etc.) to make it round. Plus if the Nether gets reworked shall there be more dungeons in there like the strongholds or maybe like old settlements. Plus should the new Nether have a bedrock roof or rather have a buildheigt for about 256 where you can dig through the ceiling and build big tihngs there? No idea but interesting topic at all.
If it comes to me I would actually be interested at all if acutally other people would want to balance the effort between the coders and the community with donations. I would even donate to the fundraiser if it would be like if the goal is not reached in half a year i get some credits or specials in expense which are already a part of the game. Would be nice tho to select out of a pool then.
