Magical Beacons?

I think it would be cool to be able to set beacons to do more than just the 6(/7 I forget) effects, like fire resistance, water breathing, or health boost. Some of the effects that you could get from potions and stuff. Or mabye a new type of beacon that could do custom status effects. That would be awesome.

By default, there are only 23 vinilla effects;
1 - Speed - Already Usable
2 - Slowness - Prob not wanted
3 - Haste - Already Usable
4 - Mining Fatigue - Prob not wanted
5 - Strength - Already Usable
6 - Instant Health - Regen would be a good substitute
7 - Instant Damage - Not sure why anyone would want this
8 - Jump Boost - Already usable
9 - Nausea - Not sure why any would want
10 - Regeneration - Already usable
11 - Resistance - Already usable
12 - Fire Resistance - Not the most useful, but still somewhat useful
13 - Water Breathing - Could be useful
14 - Invisibility - If you ran an insanely popular shop where the players couldn't see past eachother or something
15 - Blindness - Not sure why anyone would want
16 - Night Vision - would be nice to have
17 - Hunger - Not sure why it would be wanted
18 - Weakness - Not sure why it would be wanted
19 - Poison - Not sure why wanted
20 - Wither - Not sure why wanted
21 - Health Boost - could require diamond blocks, or be a high tier effect
22 - Absorption - not sure how useful this would be
23 - Saturation - not sure of usefulness

Other effects could be added, like a reach effect similar to that of valkyrie tools, a slow fall effect like golden feathers provide, a +1 efficiency like effect similar to haste, but a full efficiency level, mabye like a fortune effect, some of the effects that can be found in the aether mod are usually pretty interesting and could be used.

The debuff beacon effects could be used to make bosses like arena harder and bring out new possibilities for new minigames to be created by me!

I would like to see the debuffs and also an ability to turn beacons on and off with redstone. Finally I would like to see a range input field which lets you select a range of effects.

This would be very useful for minigames; I could give a certain room of people Blindness with the push of a button.

Well, you can kind of do the redstone to turn them on and off; You can make a piston that pushes blocks on top of the beacon, as it doesn't work without a clear path to the sky.

Around 10:45 (us eastern) last night, everyone on the server got an efficency I effect, then lure, and luck of the sea. I'd say some progress on something is being made, but for beacons, I couldn't say for sure.
