Re: 1.7 Blocks
I will not add 2 blocks with the same name. For arcacia we can simply use the vanilla texture.
Wheat blocks and coal blocks didn't seem to useful to me
I could add them as a subtype of some other (not to common (=not stone/grass/planks)) block. Downside: it would not burn, it wouldn't have the same hardness and it could conflict with existing code of that block.
Reason why I don't add them: We run out of block IDs, there are 15 free IDs until all 256 IDs are taken. Updating that would simply be too much work (For avg. 20 players online)
The Minecraft version shown on craftland only means we have most of that vanilla versions game content.

1. I would love leads as well. Useful, and fun.
2. Not enough players playing to put the effort in to get more block ID's. Get more then ~30 max players peak online, then we'll talk.

Yes so if the community is not able to reproduce itself in a expanding manner you will get no more id´s means no more features of other mods, so if all of you who got nice ideas of new features would please be kindly enough to help out lifting this server more up, the effort it needs to enhance the modpack is worth it.nidefawl wrote: Reason why I don't add them: We run out of block IDs, there are 15 free IDs until all 256 IDs are taken. This offical statement of Nide should be pinned somewhere and make the people think about it. It´s not worth it putting time and effort in a game if the only thing is to please the desire of 20 players online, i absolutly agree. Sadly no community movement evolved in the two years i am a part of this project and that means the effort is only onesided and that´s just not fair.
So far there is only one concern and it´s about the effort has to be worth it! I still think if we would work together we could make it happen that craftland reaches 100 players online in the next 4 month and even 100 players constantly online in about 6 month. The only thing that stops us is our own laziness. That although makes us stuck without the possibility to have more creative people a greater variety of mods, mobs, blocks, whatever. The biggest problem i see is the limitations craftland sets itself from within. I am not sure if the people are just to lazy or afraid and both is not longer appropriate. This may although be an opportunity to change the surface and elites on this network, cause of the old elites may propably be stuck with the two facts i wrote above or they lost motivation and goals, which for sure is a result of to much effort or input in the thing with too less output.
I suggest the most capable folks here team up and the next ideas for craftland are not about features more about concepts and work to make it reasonable to talk about that again. See you, when the server goes expand.

Agreed. Unfortunately, I am the type to say an idea, then forget it 5 minutes later, and then forget I was meant to be helping with ideas 10 minutes later. I think that we should organize a get together for the "more creative people" of craftland on teamspeak where we can voice ideas, plan things and actually put things in action. This could become a weekly event also.Soulmusician wrote:Yes so if the community is not able to reproduce itself in a expanding manner you will get no more id´s means no more features of other mods, so if all of you who got nice ideas of new features would please be kindly enough to help out lifting this server more up, the effort it needs to enhance the modpack is worth it.nidefawl wrote: Reason why I don't add them: We run out of block IDs, there are 15 free IDs until all 256 IDs are taken. Re: 1.7 Blocks
What is needed then is a workspace like a thread or better a interactive presentation (maybe prezi) like one where everybody can put her or his ideas. The host of this should be two people (redundancy) who know about craftland well not superb (superb is not needed for this). Superb people are way better as advisors and cirtics. Do not let the best be the heads that will only lead to no effect in development of the movement itself, rather choose two very different people from culture and age, with a lot of dedicated time and will to move things. Diverstiy in leadership brings good leaders. Consider asking a woman or girl to paritcipate!Pig001 wrote:Agreed. The first step is to setup a concept base of ideas. This ideas need to be gathered in brainstormings (like once a week). The concept needs to be done by people who got the will to fullfill the tasks of the concept and make that way a plan like point 1., 2., 3, etc.. So for example if two concepts can bring up like 5 plans of doing it, means five people need to be assessed to the planned tasks. Every task leader can gather a team of players to work on quests. Quest are the smallest job in for example continuous posting on a thread for a certain amount of time or hosting events regularly, etc..
A kind of reward could be that the coders offer the will to accept game concept ideas of people who are willing to contribute and the hosters of the movement can make sure the tradeoff from supporters and coders is balanced (fair like everyone contributet a fair amount of energy, what can be easily checked by reports of the people in the workspace (like the craftland news, robys game events, recordings of youtubers, minecraft community activity with links of threads).
At least one person or better three (is the number of redundancy plus motivation = 3) have to check on youtube and pick the important content about the modpack we play and force or provide this activity with feedback from our community.
One person has to establish contact with the mc-community and be some sort of diplomat between the coders, designers, players out of it with our host (this needs to be a staff member, someone who is willing to open channels for craftland with others outside and to communicate that to the host and the rest of the people which would be concerned).
There is way more to figure out and it is a sh..load of fun, I am not kidding, cause of you can figure out your talents, skills and if you are really into it start a virtual identity if you know how to make it work out for all related people.
I have to stop know even if I would love to write you the whole thing down, but its not that I tell you how to. It´s you who figure out how to get it. If i tell you you wont value it and you wont get any satisfaction out of it.
Oh and every contributer should at least be announced in the credits and the development history of this modpack. Like until our last patch or whatever the people XY succeded with doin A,B,C for our movement. Thanks to them we grant them for their dedication a new block, item, mob, tree or whatever added to the game.
Oh and just a thought put some of the staff members on specific topics like the one half works on making people stay and the other half works on getting more online. If more mapower is needed get more helpers for specific tasks like taking care of every newbie and starting a communication (this is the way other servers get things done), evaluating newbies comments and asking them and although older players about their opinion. Some sort of active communication with newbs is really needed. If 5 helpers would do that for one month we would have 50 players stay online and not 40. The effect is cumulativ and after the next month it´s even more. The mouth to mouth propaganda will get a benefit aswell, cause of the community of the server (displayed by the community helpers) is considered as cool and worth to be mention at friends.
Don´t be afraid of adding even a ridiculous amount of players to some tasks (like helpers), you can always evaluate the effect and then switch the handling in order to what is needed.

Soul if you want a place to put your ideas put them ok the bug tracker. Then all the coders will always see the things that are suggested and take action on the suggestions
