Yet another anti-grief measure

I know griefing is a small problem on our server at best and this probably isn't needed and might seem over protective... BUT, MCbans is a nice server plug in that allows you to see a player's rep AND all alternate accounts on that ip whenever they log into the server. The higher the rep the better, with the highest being a 10 and the lowest obviously being a 0. When i was an admin on another server we used it and prevented alot of bad players (or so we hope) who had low rep. Another feature is that you can see why their rep is low and how many times they've been banned. Plausible, griefing actually is big problem in Craftland's scale.

Never put MCbans on your server. I told you about AVO, the griefing team, right? They started a personal war with MCbans a while back due to complaints about unreasonable bans from players. Now, that's normal, but what makes me hate MCbans is that during the war, hundreds and HUNDREDS of innocent accounts were banned on the fear that the account 'might be AVO.' This means that loads of people have a bad rep with MCbans when really they just happened to be on a server where AVO was griefing.

I, personally, have a good rep with MCbans, but I don't like the mod itself.

I think the idea is well intended, but mcbans is not always reliable like Zarvon.
Griefing is a very general term.
It can mean anything from a hardcore griefing team to a noob wandering into another's mine.
I think it would be useful however because mods could give more attention to flagged players.
However no user should be discriminated against for their previous mcban history.

K, sorry if I sounded harsh. It's just a bit of a sore point for me. At first, I liked the idea, but the more I learned about it the more I realized that it's hard to regulate - if you get banned twice by some trigger - happy admins your rep goes down.

Wow.. shows how much attention I pay to the overall MC community... I didn't know there was a whole war launched... did it start because some a hole thought he was wrongfully punished or did he just have some serious TPS?

Nope, it was origionally started because the owner of Mcbans (Firestar or something) claimed that Mcbans was the perfect anti-grief measure and then went on to insult team AVO and tell them they had no lives (they agreed to his last point). AVO then went on to many Mcbans servers and simply started griefing. They figured that their alt accounts would make it so they could continue griefing no matter what, thus invalidating Firestar's claim. Unfortunately, admins started banning mass amounts of players, most of whom were not AVO, thus REALLY invalidating Firestar's claim.

The real problem with Mcbans isn't the mod itself; it's human fallability. If an owner of a server bans people for no reason, it still shows up on their record.
