The CraftLand APP

Post by Blue » Thu Jul 25, 2013 4:21 pm

I'm pretty sure that CraftLand has gotten a boost of donations, because a lot of people donated at once. I can also tell this considering nidefawl raised the slots to 1,000 at one point.

After the update for health bars and chat bubbles etc. I think nidefawl and you guys should consider making an iOS app (preferably iPad, which has a bigger screen) for CraftLand. I know this would take a massive amount of work and money, but you could also make it cost, so that you can earn profit off of it. The app should just be for Multiplayer, of course. The controls could be those of MCPE's. I'd actually like it if this app did not connect to the computer CraftLand, but maybe a server just for the app. This wouldn't require everything from CraftLand, as I do know that would definitely lag or crash any mobile Apple device. You could maybe have the important things such as shop chests and the aether.

I, for one, would buy this app, and I think a lot of other CL players would too. Keep in mind, it would have a high chance of earning you money if you put a lot of effort and work into it.

My opinion:
This will be a huge fail, and knowing nide does not have the time or even the effort to make an app like that.
You already mentioned not to put much in that is on Craftland, besides aether? The aether alone would be to much I think.
Also wouldn't it be in violation of copyright of minecraft and aether if you would make such an app?

Yes, i would download this, but iOS and java are completely different programming languages, nide may not even know how to code with whatever iOS programming language is. Another thing is that you would have to get permission from Mojang to publish another version of minecraft, with mods, and with the aether dev team.
Seems a bit much for something you can play a better version of on pc...

He would have to hire professional coders to code the PC version into Pocket (Since it costs a lot of money for minecraft to get on PE I think nide would have to start a kitstarter)

Nide can raise the cap to whatever he feels at any time. Does not mean that he upgraded/downgraded the server.

As for making an application, it would be cool, but would not be cost effective, and would be extremely hard to make, and not possible due to a whole list of legal bull crap.

Makes sense, what you're all saying.

But doesn't 1,000 slots cost alot? Or is he not renting?

Maybe it should be a app for checking server stats and also have irc on it. Also you can vote, go on the wiki, and the forums. Maybe even more too.

iOS (and Mac) uses Objective-C; basically it's C with an added layer of syntax to support object oriented programming (OOP). I don't own an Apple mobile device, but since Java isn't platform dependent, you would think that iPads and iPhones could support Java; unfortunately, they don't.

So, to confirm everything you said, the game would have to be ported or entirely rewritten to work on the iOS platform.
