I managed to find an Un-Explored Island today.. But It seems as though there was no way of me being able to pick that Egg up.. So out of curiosity i wanted to know why the Egg was Un-Obtainable? because i didn't really see any problems you could cause with using it..

Eh, may I say, not true?
In Vanilla, placing a piston right next to the egg and activating it should drop it as an item, since there's no block, its an entity, and it's affected by gravity.
In Craftland, if you try this, the egg just disappears, no item drop or anything.

1) It is a block. It's the way it's rendered. Think Sand crossed with Flower.
2) Piston collection was a glitch in the first place, not a feature.

If it is a glitch, why haven't they removed / patched it yet then? They sure know it, i think it should be possible and it is not a glitch, because it is kind off a trophy when you have managed to kill the enderdragon.

You had to use a regular axe on half slabs for god knows how long. Also, you asked why it was unobtainable, not, make it obtainable.
