MIA for a bit.

Due to the fact my computer has developed sudden onset retardation, I'm going to be gone for a bit. Hopefully not long.

I've checked drivers, both hard drives, done virus scans, defragged, checked bios for any weird crap, and reintstalled / uninstalled all sorts of stuff.

I have no updates for any video drivers, or anything else. I have no idea whats wrong. If I try to do more than type, it lags.

I used to be able to run craftland fanciest settings with extreme render, and shaders, with 40+ FPS. Now I can barely get 30 on crappiest.

If anyone knows some guru magic, please share. I've had this problem before, and it went away when I nuked my old drive, reinstalled windows, and ran windows on my new SSD. I'd like to not have to wipe the hard drive again, but if that's what it takes, I'll probably switch to linux :/.

So.. yeah. Guru magic = appreciated. :ugeek:

I'll still be in chat/forums though, just no ingame.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DON'T GO TO THE DARK SIDE

Can't you just move your stuff to a portable hard drive and nuke everything? :|

If you do switch to linux, feel free to PM me on the irc for help. If you don't know what distro to use, I would recommend Mint 14 Cinnamon Edition.

I did nuke everything. Today I got tired of it lagging when trying to open control panel. Seriously. That happened. Also windows explorer crashed. Pretty depressing... So, I formatted both drives, and deleted all the partitions and such. Then spent a while fiddling with command prompt on windows install disk.

I have pretty nice hardware, so I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the software.

I'll keep windows on a partition of my SSD, and then linux on another. I assume a 64 gb SSD has space for both, linux probably isn't another 32 gb.

All I really want is a nice version that boots quick, and has moderately good support.

My first computer was a DOS laptop made by compaq, somewhere around 1997.
It was amazing. And the games, I loved them, especially one helicopter game, but I died everytime the enemies came :sadsad:

That game never fails. It's made of pure success.

Anyone have any recommendations on whether I should go Ubuntu or Mint? If so, why?
I want something that I can play MC on, and probably run some other small things through wine.

Google LHX Attack Chopper, I'm pretty sure the creators don't take money for it anymore so you can easily find a downloadlink. Remember to use DOSemulator!
