Been out of Condition to come online :/

Laptop on boot gets a error that pops up "Unable to find hard drive" Hopefully by this wednesday my friend can fix it by popping in a disc to wipe everything, but other than that if he cannot it may be months till i'm back.

Ok, do you know the processor, RAM, and (if it has 1) GPU? I worked on a Sony Vaio for a friend so I might be able to help with some information. Also, did you have your hard drive compressed for more space option selected? And what Operating System are you using?

Dunno a lot that you asked but it's on windows 8, you cant do anything once it boots up, any key i press keeps bringing up the error, and doing ALT + CTRL + Delete just reboots it back up to the same screen.

Judging by the unable to find hard drive error i assume there is a problem in your MBR. You can try a tool like UBCD to resolve the issue, but reinstalling windows would be better if your in a position where you have a recovery disk.

Hey nick thanks for the reply, my friend when he gets back on wednesday will be dropping one of those disks in and nope warrior kitty no idea what that is about

Ok. Well I was thinking that after an update your laptop might have simply do selected your hard drive as your main boot disk in the BIOS (that has happend to me) and all you would have to do is select it.

That should not be possible, if it is something is very wrong. You operating system should not modify the MBR and it definitely should not modify the boot order in the bios.
