wow we are still in 1.7.3 yet 1.9 has been released

Well, it's just the pre-release so far. But the fact that 1.8 has SO MUCH content and changed so much of the game is likely what's delaying our upgrade. Can't just change the code a tiny bit and say 'there, done'

Idd, but since 1.9 is pre-released so soon, nide is going to update the server directly to it when it is fully released

The server is updated to 1.9 pre1
