a bug i just found... very odd one, happens to these chests. breaking and placing iron block "toggles" them. Also reported on the bug forum but here are the screenshots to confirm it:

Have you tried seeing if it's been happening recently? And what about others, can they see it disappear as well? If it's only you, it may be a client-sided bug where a relog may fix it. If other people can (or actually CAN'T) see it ,then it's probably a server bug.

Just my thoughts on the matter is all.
