spawner mobs despawning

having a little trouble setting up a mob spawner, first i tried a natural spawner and it didnt work ( only 4 mobs in 2 minecraft days). I was told that there is a low spawn rate here and to buy spawners because they are cheap. Did that and now the mobs despawn before they get to the end of my spawner. I really just need to know what the special rules for this server are so i dont waste time building things that should work only to have them not. help me please........

ok this wont solve your problem but just so you know you can mine natural spawned spawner with a diamond pickaxe and reinstall it somewhere else you need it.

Does not help you are right, lol . but i thought i needed a silk touch pickaxe to mine the spawners? i have a cave spider one marked out but was waiting for a silktouch enchant.

You dont need it, any pickaxe works.

Build helped me out, replaced water lift with a blue cloud lift and now they make it to end...well almost all of them. anyway thanks Build
