sword skill question

so me and a fiew people on the server were wondering if you get more damage the higher sword skill you have. can any coder answer.

A lot of it comes from the abilities associated with the skill. type /swords ingame to see all of the effects you currently have

does that mean that you get alittle more base damage or damage when you have higher sword skills. cus alot of good people seem to do more damage than me. eaven tho i have the same enchants and potions as them
