Lag on the server last night

So last night I was playing on craftland.org server in Minecraft multiplayer and there was a huge lag for some reason. Nevertheless I still kept mining and building stuff. Then today I came back on and nothing had saved from what I did last night. Is there something I can do the get my progress back or why did this happen?
