That's something I never understood, I've seen plenty of players getting kicked or banned for chat infractions. That is just completely illogical. Why prevent them from playing if all they did was break a chat rule? That's what muting is for. I just didn't tell the mods/admins they should mute instead of kicking or banning because, well, I'm a "slave" aka "non staff" aka "helper".
Nide had specifically told the staff last year to only mute for chat infractions, and short tempbans for AFK machine (we used to Permban for it). But no one is listening to that anymore.

Chance, you know nide. Nide would of banned him also if he was on. And looking at recent bans there is only 1 ban related to spamming that a staff member made.

I've seen people kicked for chat infractions several times, including myself.

Staff is free to make the action that they judge appropriate regarding a chat infraction. Muting is preferred, but kicking and banning can also be used in some circumstances (kick for a quick warning and ban for bigger offences, etc.).

If your talking about the ban I had made, If spamming "fuck you." in the chat using a macro isnt good enough for a ban, I dont know what is. As marc said, we can make decisions on what we think is right. Personally, when I ban someone, if they are doing something serious, and need to ban them quickly, I perm ban them, with no reason, then add a reason and a time on the website. My main objective is getting them banned quick. I had went away at this point after banning him for some reason, Idk and didnt change it to a temp. When I got back, he had made a ban appeal and I was meaning to change it to a temp there and then, but I got distracted. By the time I got around to it, he had paid the unban fee.

Marc, last year when I said the same thing, I was critiSized, and told by superiors to ONLY mute for chat infractions, and to never ban. I was told that countless times.

Pig, it wasn't directly at you. I know you specifically change your bans afterwards, but others don't, and people serve long tempbans instead of short mutes. I agree what he did was severe enough for a ban to get him offline quickly, but, at the time of my previous posts, I did not know who banned him nor if they had intentions on changing it

Things change. As you said above, that was a year ago. If things were the same as when i was a noob, people would be getting banned & kicked a lot more. For crying out loud, lisa muted me for saying shutup when i returned from a long break a year and a half ago.

Because we were told to mute for things like that. When I came back as staff, no one told me to do otherwise.
