Mobs escaping

Post by Faker » Sat Aug 10, 2013 3:51 pm

This bug is in vanilla and is fixed in 1.6.2. Upon loading chunks mobs, in cages or pens, can walk through empty chunks. Once they load, the blocks will apear allow them to escape or suffocate within the block. I have a chicken farm near my /home so every time I do the command I teleport there but it takes 1-2 seconds for the chunks to load, allowing the chickens to roam. Once the blocks appear a chicken usually escapes, sometimes escaping into a block, then dieing. This bug is so annoying so can you fix it?

This also works with arrows. Upon loading the chunks, in the one second they haven't loaded yet, the arrows go through all blocks untill the chunks load.

I cannot confirm that.
Mobs and other entities will not get updated if not at least their containing chunk plus at least one row of surrounding chunks are loaded. Could be its a bug only affecting chickens or ageable animals.

It can happen that the chickens fall thru the ground on the client side in rare cases. If thats the case they will not suffocate and get teleported back after 30 seconds.

If your chickens really suffocate each time the chunks load I will look into it and fix it.

At my wither skeleton grinder, when no one is there the wither skeletons glitch out of the killing area, and attack me when I warp there.
