When you goto appearance menu, you should be able to choose the pic or number u want to show beside your name after you have earned the emblem (such as the 1,2,3,4,5 and more to be added) to add more customization to the player.

Yeah I agree we needs these Emblems in been awhile since mentoring was in the game.
