Galacticraft

Post by camyoshi » Sun Dec 14, 2014 2:34 am

I had a dream a couple weeks ago about Galacticraft, one of my favorite mods, being added onto Craftland. This has been suggested a long time ago, but I just think this would make most players amazed. I have been wanting this for a few months. I am finally adding a suggestion about it. Galacticraft is a mod that adds a few new worlds (You could just add the moon if you wanted :) ) which can be traveled to with a spaceship. You can explore the moon, mars, and even the asteroid belt! If you want more info, check the link near the bottom of this post. The new ores (aluminum, silicon, copper, and tin) could generate in the mining world. The moon also has dungeons that can be reset and also include a new boss, the Evolved Skeleton Boss. On mars, there are also dungeons. The dungeons include the Evolved Creeper Boss. In the asteroids, there are no dungeons. The links for the source code are found near the bottom of this post.

Here is the Galacticraft wiki page:

Here are some screenshots:

Image
This is the moon. Normal temperature. No oxygen. You can see your footsteps. Requires tier 1 rocket.

Image
This is Mars. Cold. No oxygen. Mostly made out of carbon dioxide. Rocky. Requires tier 2 rocket.

Image
This is the asteroid belt. Very cold. Requires tier 3 rocket.

Beyond this point, you don't have to add. I am just suggesting it.

Below, there are some pictures from 4-Space, a Galacticraft add-on. There also is source code. You can find it near the bottom of this post.

Image
This is Venus. You really shouldn't be able to land on this planet, but you can. Venus is the second closest planet to the sun. Very hot. Requires tier 2 rocket.

Image
This is Mercury. This is a very hot planet and is the closest planet to the sun. It is still very hot, but it isn't as hot as Venus. Requires tier 2 rocket, even though it should be a tier 3 rocket.

Image
This is Jupiter's moon, Europa. Very cold and frozen moon. Requires tier 3 rocket.

Image
This may look like Venus, but nope. This is Io, another moon on Jupiter. Io is very hot and has lakes of molten sulfur. However, this is not in the picture. Requires tier 3 rocket.

Image
This is inside a worm hole. The worm hole is around Saturn and is basically Makemake, a dwarf planet. Requires tier 3 rocket and should require a tier 4 rocket.

There are some more moons and planets, but they haven't been added yet. Some of these include Ganymede, Callisto, Titan, Pluto, Eris, Sedna, Vesta (A large asteroid), Ceres, and Triton.

Here are some pictures of More Planets, another Galacticraft add-on. All of these planets are found in another galaxy.

Image
This is Diona, this may look like Mercury, but it is not. This is a hot planet. Requires tier 4 rocket.

Image
This is Koentus, the moon of Diona. This is a rocky, blue moon. Requires tier 4 rocket.

Image
This is Polongnius. This is a cheese planet and is a mini gas planet. Requires tier 5 rocket.

Image
This is Nibiru. This is a rocky planet with trees. Requires tier 6 rocket.

Image
This is Fronos. This is a planet with tons of food and life. Requires tier 7 rocket.

Image
This is Kapteyn B, which is found in another galaxy. This is a frozen planet. Requires Tier 8 rocket, which is not implemented yet.

Image
This is Sirius B. This the hottest planet and requires a tier 7 rocket and will soon require a tier 9 rocket.

Here are the links for the source code:

4-Space:
https://github.com/4-Space/4-Space-1.7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

More Planets doesn't have source code at the moment :( . Maybe in the future ;) .

I hope this gets added (Even just the moon would be fine :) )!

If it is added, it'll have to have small borders on each planet or just a few of the planets due to there possibly being lots of lag. Personally, I love the idea of this being added and would bring much more excitment into Craftland.

Is it open source? If so you got to charm a coder to add it. So basically you can offer something in return like time, effort, money, etc.. Cause of the shrinking player count nobody really is pleased to put more effort into the game at the moment.

So if you bring in exchange a new boom to craftland like 20 - 30 players plus online, you might see those ideas coming to life (if its open source or you got the ok and source code of the modmakers).

The other thing is would you pay for play a modpack (pay to play cause of new server needed) and Craftland would be the host of it? If so how much would you pay for playing a month, cause of servers cost money and the craftland mainserver cannot run another modpack. So for a decent server you pay 60,-- Euro a month. If enough player find that interesting it could be like pay 5,-- Euros for 30 days.

That´s the only thing i can imagine to get done in time, without someone who has to pay for the entertainment of others. This is a thing although to the point that some older folks who donated quite a lot to run craftland are way more interested to actually play the game they like, which may be a second modpack as addition. But to put more money in craftland itself is not what really makes any sense cause of the only thing is it pays the server for the entertainment of others. That is nice and fancy but in the end just a waste of resources cause of the guys looking for entertainment do play the thing but do not enhance it in a way it would need to be.

So it´s basically more players on the mainserver and it makes sense for coders and fiances to put more into it.

Oh and I love Galacticcraft and all its addons too, so don´t let this die and find ways to get this done.
First check if it´s open source, if not ask for the sourcecode and right to use it. Then make an offer to the coders / financing community.

It´s a long road nowadays in minecraft, but that´s the outcome of minecraft at all. Everyone wants and noone gives.

Your post is amazing and detailed and elder people like to talk about your ideas in this community. I would support the galacticcraft thing with 10,-- Euros.
