What is crucial is getting players to vote within the first 1-5 days. During this period, they should get 2 credits a day, or similar bonuses. Also, weekly bonuses - if they vote 7 days in a row, they get another bonus.

Votes reset monthly, but the server's other stats (Listed for 2 years and a decent uptime) help the server get a great score when the votes are reset. There is an advantage.

Take a look at this, that server has been up for 8 days, and with 200 votes, it is still under craftland.

Also, unobtainables may work, especially in the first few months. But some players might not value it as much, the more they vote. People will gradually get more and more, and it won't be as valuable. It could be better to have something that actually is useful and that gets wasted (Like diamonds, people lose diamonds, armor needs fixing, ect.)

Why did you people EVER remove Sentry Boots?
Who says there can't be a full set of Sentry Armor that you could get from this?
Screw the "Bronze Dungeon = WINWINWIN" idea, you could get Valkyrie armor and Sentry armor from this voting thing.

Pretty useful, huh?
I am seriously ready to murder every single Aether Cow in the world if I get knocked off another island because of stupid snow balls. :nono:
Not sure how hard that would be to code, but it's worth a shot! :D

Yes, yes, YES. We could have buildup bonuses (i.e. if some crazy player voted every single day of the month, they get some rreeeaaalllyy great item).

This is the formula minestatus uses

Score = uptime percent * (0.333 * days ago the server was added) + (1.5 * Votes)

a bit confusing, yes i did dumb it downs a bit from the formula they listed

Code: Select all

A server's score is determined by the following formula: n = p * 0.333d + 1.5v

Where p is the overall uptime percentage, d is the amount of days since the server was added, and v is the total amount of votes for the server.

So we do get that nice boost but we could have a LOT of people voting for us... and I don't think the thrill of being able to build with silver dungeon blocks would ever diminish.

We still get a decent bonus with only a few votes. I'm glad to see the score works as a formula and not just a base stat.

Edit: It is actually a base stat, I skimmed over the formula. The multiplier associated with days only affects the uptime. I think if I did this right, we get a base stat of something like 235.
that being said, it makes it more crucial to vote at the start of the month, as we are ahead of other servers because the server's time listed.

Yeah, me too, but the whole idea of the topic was to come up with ideas to increase voting, and I think there have been a lot of admirable ideas. We'll need to talk to nide to see how to do it (I know that since he uses votifier, he can already track who votes, but adding "credits" might be harder.)
