No legitimate reason?
Ok, lets imagine a senario here. When you join, you get the option, either a) you get 1k perfect diamonds and all the most amazing gear to begin, or b) you get nothing.
Now in your situation, your going to pick a. Now, what do you do? You have the most powerful stuff in the game, the stuff that takes hundreds of hours of playtime to get, and you already have it, 10 seconds after joining. Now theres no fun in that for you, nor the other players, and you would probably just leave after 10 minutes of exploring, as theres no way to progress as their nothing to gain other than maybe a nice house out somewhere made from the perfect diamond blocks you recieved, with idiotic players running around griefing everything as they got the most OP pickaxes in the game 2 seconds after joining and are now going on a mash-the-left-mouse-button-spree on everything they can get their hands on.
What would even be the point of us coding, or yous playing if you are able to get every item that you have to progress to get, if you get it seconds after joining, or a few hours after joining as you joined on a "Fair day" where everyone pukes ponys and resources are plentiful and everyone is nice. Im sorry, thats not going to happen. Take me as an admin, I didnt just join and get this, nor did any of the other staff that are here today. We worked hard and well to get to the positions we are in, though progression, though contact, though playing the game, understanding it, progressing though every little aspect of playing, and we all started as noobs, with nothing more than a wooden pickaxe, apple and half broken leather boots. We've all been there, thats how it starts. Then slowly via a lot of playing, you get rewarded, with more powerful stuff, slowly climing the ladder of sucess though the world.

Hm, lets see. Experience, if you class that as the features such as items, blocks, armour etc. which is kinda all the same catogory, then again, refer back to my first 2 paragraphs. Older players are not "egotistic", if a new group of players, who havent played nearly as long as them came along, asking for all this stuff to be handed to them on little paper plates with servants wiping the little bits of food of their perfectly combed moustashes, then I understand why they may be a little bit annoyed, after working an absolute tonne and spending an absolute tonne of time to get to the position that they are in.
Now, if we're talking about experience in terms of new worlds, boss fights, loot from boss fights, then that is all the same. No players get extra boss fights, no players get extra worlds for being older players(excluding staff, obviously). Now if your going to say that they are able to do higher damage, guess where those players started, getting owned in damage and money from the older players back in the day, I remember thinking I was amazing at PVP then I think it was chedd just came in and completly owned me, and it did make me annoyed, I probably said something like "your too op" in chat, but guess what, I went out, played a tonne of hours, got a tonne of stuff, and then went back... and still got beaten as im terrible at PVP, but thats besides the point. I worked to get to that stage, its just not going to get handed to you.
Fair, just doesnt work. Nothing is ever completly fair, or often ever remotly fair, unless its some randomization system, where everyone buys a ticket and maybe wins, but then an argument will start saying the rich can buy more tickets... never ending cycle.
Some little tweaks can be done, but they have to be a lot more thought out, and considered by many staff.
If there are any spelling/grammar mistakes, im sorry, my pc has somehow managed to auto-disable spell check, ffs.
Now, back to an English essay that I totally forgot was due for tomorrow and im currently rushing it at 22:30 at night...
