Craftland Raids

New "Mini-game" Concept


About:

Recently Jaylee and Myself have had a conversation with nidefawl about the possibility of randomly generated raids on craftland. This would be a grid based raid with different floor layouts that players would have to go through to get to a boss. Once a boss is killed they will be rewarded outside the raid. But something to note about raids is that nothing from players inventories in survival worlds will be allowed to be brought into the raid. Meaning only things found in the raid can be used to kill the bosses. These bosses would be Arena like bosses but possibly different.

Dungeon Rooms:

Dungeon rooms will be layed out in a grid system like the provided picture below. Some door will be locked and would require either a key found within other rooms or for a player to complete a task in that room. Tasks could be anything like mining specific blocks to completing a timed maze to possibly even mimicking specific motions.

The concept is heavily based on the games "Runescape"'s skill "Dungeoneering". This could bring new content to new and old players and have each of them start off at the same skill level so everyone can work together to obtain cool and interesting rewards within the raids.

Since the raid would be in a grid based system. Each room would be the same size of 32x32x32. This does not mean each room has to use all that space but that is how much space is required in each room.

How Often:

Raids if done could possibly be only available at specific times like arena. Giving it time for players to do the raid and time for the raid itself to load and unload from the server without producing lag or stress on the server itself.

Conclusion:

How do you like the concept? would this be something you would like to see on craftland? What would you add and what would you change? Please give your feedback on this concept because it really does matter. Do you feel this would help extend game play for older players and add something more for new players to do. Do you feel this could help bring new players and older players to work together more?

I wonder, will this grid based system allow "open air dungeons"? or only caves?

I would assume that if its open air dungeons then the roof of each grid probably would have to be a few blocks thick of invisible blocks.
