More realistic greif prevention.

From what I've seen so far griefing is a troublesome thing on this server and with the current zero tolerance policy of griefing I propose a hands free system of grief prevention in the form of the Towny plugin.

This would allow players to protect their lands in an effective way that free's up the admins/mods time from dealing with griefing and simultaneously would provide stimulus to the in-game economy. For those who are not familiar with the towny plugin the way it works is players can section off 8x8 pieces of land at a time. The more land one claims the higher the upkeep becomes and more money is sought after (thereby stimulating the economy while providing a "gold sink" to prevent inflation).

In order to enjoy the protection Towny offers the player must be active and have the funds to both found and maintain their properties. Not only does this system allow players to protect their lands it also allows natural deterioration of said lands if players have quit the server. If the player quits playing, naturally the upkeep of their lands would quickly deplete their town's bank and as a result the town will have lost its "grief" protection and be either taken over by another active player or looted and destroyed. Either way this provides a natural way for "real estate" to be available for new/active players without having admins or mods wasting their times on matters such as this.

This easy to use grief prevention system provides less babysitting from the admin's/mods in terms of dealing with playing griefing properties and an effective way to give players control over their properties while stimulating the in-game economy.



It will be lore friendly because we can start more advanced civilizations and heres a screenshot of the final product:

if they cant ask a helper for a region what makes you think they will make one alone ? this is a even better way to grief as you can protect someones unprotected house

Nick was working on a Towns system a while back. It would be really nice to see it completed and implemented.

if anything a claim system would be the best/easiest thing to add. Though it is pointless to add as this point since there are so many regions. Few players would be able to afford what it would cost to have all the claim blocks needed to have their current regions. The region system works fine, there is no reason to change it.
