Different abilities. As far as I remember theres 5-6 new shields, with more being added.

New shields are already in the game but will be released as boss loot from new bosses

If you changed your vanilla Minecraft username it won't update on craftland. However if you ask a mod or admin in game we can change it to the new minecraft name for you.
